Eragon Film Review

Eragon (aka Lord or the Rings wannabe) tries so hard to be LOTR, but manages to fail on most fronts, apart from the finale. It seems that they wander around for about the first hour an a half, telling us of the dragon rider myth, then its down to the final battle with the evil king, evil wizard and people stuck in a city on the side of a mountain (sound familiar?). Rachel Weisz is also fairly annoying in her through-the-nose-english-accent, as the dragon. Its fairly slow until the end, but just manages to entertain.

Flushed Away Film Review

Took Jamie to see Flushed Away, not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. They had managed to give the CGI animation a clay-mation look, even putting the odd fingerprint on the models, which made it look Aardman authentic. The story was pretty good, and the action fairly constant. The slugs steal the show, but more importantly it entertained us all.

Casino Royale Film Review

Well it was certainly a very gritty Bond, and Daniel Craig certainly fits the bill in making you believe it. A fairly simple story about a terorist loosing his money and having to setup a high stakes poker game to win it back. The casino scenes are fairly tense and there is nice action filler between the other scenes. Sometimes the story seems a bit strung together, but on the whole very good edge of the seat stuff!

The Guardian Film Review

Distinctly average. Some good action sequences, but mainly centred around Kevin Coster and Ashton Kutchers past "losses", drags a bit in places. Something to see while theres nothing else on at the cinema! The whole training to be a coast guard as part of the Navy is very interesting, as its a very intensive course, and doesn't compare very well to the UK's charity run R.N.L.I. Why doesn't the UK have a service coast guard?

The Departed Film Review

Great cast, crap film! The goodies deceiving the badies, who are double crossing the badies, and theres a badie on the inside, got it?! The whole film in centred around everyone double crossing everyone else and out for their own good. By the end of the film you're through caring really, especially as theres a point when you think the film is going to end, then it carries on for another 30 odd minutes!

Right at Your Door Film Review

Like watching paint dry or having teeth pulled with a chainsaw! Starts out well, with the disaster and suspense, but goes drastically down hill after the first 20mins! The "twist" they tell you about on the posters is nothing exciting, and just like Deep Water and the sharks, you're just waiting for the people to die in this film in the end too!!

Little Man Film Review

Mildy amusing, but not in same league as Scary Movie or Police Squad. Few genuine funny moments, some good CGI baby heads, some bad. Just a very so-so film with no alot going for it. Only went to see it 'cos a dry week at the cinema!

Crank Film Review

What a great action film! Non-stop from beginning to end, like Speed but with a human being! Funny in part, violent in others, great popcorn munching and highly recommended.

Snakes on a Plane Film Review

If you think you're going to see a serious film, then think again! Completely over the top and everything that could go wrong does. Real jump out your seat moments and great disasters. Top notch popcorn munching fodder. Just leave your brain in the car glove box!

Cars Film Review

Pixar's first flop! Really average story, in the usual Disney mould, boy does something bad, falls in love with girl, realises hes done something bad, turns good. Zzzzzzzz. Only saving grace is the animation, everything else is very so-so, and no where near as good as The Incredibles, which was A+.

Superman Returns Film Review

They use the old credits, the old music, but new cast and this film is superb!! It drags very slightly in some places, but theres the right amount of action and love interest storyline. It chucks a couple of story elements at you that you don't see coming, and leaves the film wide open for a sequel. Needs a few more action bits like the airplane sequence you see in the trailer. That theme tune really send schills up your spine!

Pirates of the Carribean 2 Film Review

Action packed and full of great stunts and set pieces. The cast return to give another comedy filled action flick. Break out the popcorn, sit back and enjoy.

Omen 666 Film Review

Complete are utter rubbish! The story and scenes are almost identical. The deaths are slightly more gruesome, yet this gets a lower certificate. Scare factor is done by cranking up the music. Acting is terrible, particularly from Julia Styles, who is very unconvincing. Stick to the original version.

Over the Hedge Film Review

The amount of CGI film trailers that preceeded this film, warns of a very worrying trend in swamping the market with CGI kid flicks. However "Over the Hedge" isn't one to be worried about. We were entertained throughout, slow to start, but great ending. The side characters steal the show again, preferring Hammy the overactive squirrel above the slow tortoise (can't even remember his name!).

Poseidon Film Review

Well they say special effects a film do not make, but in this case they made a huge difference. Not just the odd leak hear and the the odd paper basket full of burning paper there, as in the orginal, we're talking "Titanic" scale disasters, explosions and floods. Actors were there just to string the story along, but we both thoroughly enjoyed this remake.

X-Men The Last Stand Film Review

Loads of characters, loads of action. Thoroughly enjoyed this film! Great story, introduces quite a load of new characters and reincarnations of old ones, says goodbye to a few good ones, and generally leaves the whole frachise hanging, dying out for X-Men 4 or one of the many rumoured spin-offs.

The Da Vinci Code Film Review

I don't know what it was about this film, but I was desparate for the loo for about an hour, but I couldn't go for fear of missing something! The story kept going, revealing little clues and secrets at each turn, strung together with the odd action sequence. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about with the film, because even if Jesus was married and he still did all those miracles what does it matter that his relatives are alive today?

Silent Hill Film Review

A very decent game to film conversion. Slightly better than Resident Evil, as its more arty and follows the game closely, and is also hugely scary rather than camp action. If is wasn't for the slightly dodgy acting of the police woman Cybil, played by Laurie Holden, and the completely bizarre ending (we're gonna have to wait for the DVD to let the director explain what an earth was going on!), then it would have been an excellent film. There were some truely gruesome special effects, and the 15 certificate is very leniant!

Ice Age The Meltdown Film Review

Well this film was highly boring. We say roll on the extinction, as this film literally put Barry to sleep! Not sure what was missing from the story it was just very, very slow and drawn out. Scrat steals the show, and makes you wonder why they bother with the other characters.

Mission Impossible 3 Film Review

Trying so hard to be Bond, but not quite getting there. Its action packed and strung together well, but it somehow didn't feel quite right. Might have been my mood, but think something was definitely lacking.

Slither Film Review

A horror comedy that isn't particularly funny and just turns out to be a bit silly. Basic plot summary is alien worm lands, invades human host, then tries to take over humanity, but theres a love twist. Acting is good, considering the film they are working with. Special effects are also well done. But the film just seems a bit cobbled together with no real goal. Still entertaining, and worth a watch.

Scary Movie 4 Film Review

The Scary Movie franchise is slowly loosing steam. Downhill from film 3, this 4th version is getting a little long in the tooth. With weak parodies of lesser known horror flicks, it fails to make you laugh that often. However when it does cause you to smirk it does in true Scary Movie style. Oh and theres also another funny cat scene!

The Ringer Film Review

A stolen episode of South Park, works well as a 20 minute cartoon, but not as a live action 1.5 hour film made with real handicapped people. Some bits are very funny, but you're not entirely sure if you should really be laughing. On the whole the jokes are poor and the film is very low on steam and the story very obvious.

Lucky Number Slevin Film Review

Very interesting crime/thriller with a novel twist at the end (although you do see it coming about 2/3rds the way through). Theres a few too many characters and plot twists involved that if I said anything it would give it all away. Needless to say good story, good acting from Josh Harnett, Bruce Willis and Lucy Liu. Not necessarily a cinema film, DVD rental would be fine.

V for Vendetta Film Review...

...or V for very good! Very surprisingly enjoyable. The trailer was rubbish and really didn't give anything away, was actually a review in SFX that pursuaded me to see it, and glad I did. Basically the story is about a supposed "terrorist" that trys to get rid of a corrupt UK government (set in the future) that spoon feeds lies to the public by the controlled media, making us think one thing while in reality its just one big cover-up. Smacks of 9/11 when we were always on "orange" alert, and contains a good message thats you shouldn't always trust what you hear or read. Natalie Portman is also less wooden than she was in Star Wars!

Date Movie Film Review

From 2 of the 6 writers of Scary Movie eh? Well it must have been the crappier two. Starting out well, we see Alyson Hannigan (from Buffy) in a fat suit, with the predictable slim down and fall in love story following. The jokes come quick and fast at first, but by the end of the film things a running very slow. The funniest thing in the whole movie is the "Cat on the Toilet" parody from Meet the Fockers, it had us in stitches with simple toilet humour!

Aeon Flux Film Review

Have seen some very bad reviews of this film, but if you like sci-fi then don't believe them! We thoroughly enjoyed this film. Slightly unusual story about human race being wiped out by a deadly virus, and the few remaining people living under a corrupt government that is trying to keep a secret from them. Good story, good bits of action, and Charlize Theron plays the moody lady in the catsuit very well.

Final Destination 3 Film Review

More youthful American high-school kids line up to be wiped out in the most OTT ways possible, its Final Destination 3. This film will put you off roller coasters and sun beds for life. Even though supposed to be a "horror", we were laughing all the way through (the other viewers weren't particularly amused). The "accidents" are just so extreme! Silly story line, silly OTT deaths, was very entertained!

The Producers Film Review

Or "Springtime for Hitler!". Superb film, very funny throughout, humerous songs and lyrics. Uma Therma is wildly different from her Kill Bill roll, playing a dumb blond swedish receptionist!
